Located off the South coast of Mahe, Ile Solei is a reclaimed island with a total area of approximately 123,000m2.The Island is being developed under the “Nouvo Zil, Nouvo Lavenir” concept that was displayed in the Expo 2020 inspiring on the Seychelles 2020 vision.
The 2020 Development Company which was created in 2010 is mandated to implement the various projects on the island and will raise funds from the sales of the properties for the development of infrastructure and utilities on the island.
The Company has contracted the Seychelles Investment Board to do the promotion and marketing of the hotel development on Ile Soleil and the tender was officially launched for the project on Friday the 2nd of November 2012 at the International Conference Centre in Victoria.
Mr Barry Faure the chairman of the Seychelles 2020 presidential commission and the 2020 Development Company officially launched the tender in the presence of Finance, Trade and Investment Minister Pierre Laporte, Minister for Land Use and Habitat Christian Lionnet, principal secretaries, chief executives and other high government officials.
Addressing the guests at the tender-launch ceremony, Mr Faure said developments on Ile Soleil need to be based on nature.
“The tourism project on Ile Soleil needs to be nature-based. We need to ensure that the environment is respected at all times, even during the design phase, through to the construction and post-occupancy stage,” he said
The area demarcated for the hotel development amounts to 29,920m2 with the sea as its main view. Furthermore, it will be targeted as a transit hotel mainly due to its close proximity to the Seychelles International and domestic Airport, whilst in terms of the structure; the hotel will be permitted to have a ground floor plus 2 floors.
The chief executive officer of SIB Mrs Sherin Renaud stated in a press conference after the launch that Seychellois investors are being invited to take part in the hotel project or to enter into a joint venture with a foreign partner, she also stated that the tender documents are available for purchase at SIB at R5,000 for local investors and US $500 for foreign investors.
