All female crew flight from Paris today
Air Seychelles will today operate an-female crew flight from Paris to mark the International Women’s Day.
It is expected to arrive at the Seychelles International Airport under the command of Captain Nicole Chang Leng and first officer Lishad Matharu at 8.05am tomorrow.
Other crew members will be Brenda Esparon, Patricia Raoul, Natalie Berlouis, Nicole Perreau, Sonia Isaac, Shereen Bristol, Tania Mellie, Stephanie Elizabeth and Angie Pothin.
The airline’s executive chairman Captain David Savy said in a statement yesterday:
“Air Seychelles has always recognised the special and very important role women have had in our country and more particular the airline. As a matter of fact women are more numerous then their male counterparts in the national airline”.
“Air Seychelles is an equal-opportunity employer and staff are employed based on merit. The fact that more than half of its human resources contingent are women, is an indication of how competitive and capable the woman of Seychelles have become.
As a force, they have always been strong but their success is an indication that they are ready, willing and able to reach for the skies.”
On board the flight also will be six French prizewinners coming for a four-day educational visit to familiarise themselves with the role of Seychellois women in the national well being and our economy.
Their visit has been organised by Air Seychelles in partnership with the Seychelles Tourism Board and Le Meridien Hotels.
The prizewinners – who are all women – took part in a competition which was published in the Le Parisien newspaper, France’s largest daily. They answered questions based on Seychelles.
Air Seychelles and STB offices in Paris have recently embarked on an aggressive promotion and marketing campaign to promote the competition through eye-catching advertisements in strategic publicity locations throughout France.
Air Seychelles first operated an-all female international flight in August 2007 on the Seychelles-Mauritius return sector which was the first commercial flight of Captain Chang Leng, Seychelles’ first female pilot and first Seychellois woman to captain a B767 jet.
To date Air Seychelles employs 803 staff of which 388 are men and 415 women.
The board of directors has seven directors of whom three are women.
