During the meeting on March 29, Mr Barroso congratulated Seychelles for taking bold steps to carry out its macro-economic reform programme and repeated the commission’s support for Seychelles with its goal of achieving economic stability.

The EC has contributed a total of €16.5 million towards the reform programme and €2 million in the context of climate change activities.

The European Union is also active in the fight against piracy in the western Indian Ocean through the presence of the EU-Navfor taskforce.

Ms Fock-Tave delivered an invitation from President James Michel to President Barroso to attend the Seychelles Investment Forum, which will be held in Brussels later this year.
