Vivianne Fock-Tave, Seychelles’ ambassador in Brussels, has presented her credentials to José Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission (EC).
During the meeting on March 29, Mr Barroso congratulated Seychelles for taking bold steps to carry out its macro-economic reform programme and repeated the commission’s support for Seychelles with its goal of achieving economic stability.
The EC has contributed a total of €16.5 million towards the reform programme and €2 million in the context of climate change activities.
The European Union is also active in the fight against piracy in the western Indian Ocean through the presence of the EU-Navfor taskforce.
Ms Fock-Tave delivered an invitation from President James Michel to President Barroso to attend the Seychelles Investment Forum, which will be held in Brussels later this year.
