Guests were also able to see the work of popular local artists through video presentations.
Among those present were former President James Mancham, chief justice Fredrick Egonda-Ntende, ministers, leader of government business in the National Assembly Marie-Antoinette Rose, leader of the opposition in the National Assembly David Pierre, members of the diplomatic corps and top government officials.
Mr Faure commended the National Arts Council for the good work it is doing to promote local artists by showcasing their talents, adding the festival will give us and our visitors a chance to see our way of life and cultural identity through the eyes of our artists.
The festival will go on until September 2, giving members of the public the chance to enjoy an array of artistic work and performances.
