Badea delegation calls on VP Faure
A delegation from the Arab Bank for Development in Africa (Badea) headed by Mohamed E. Khelifi paid a courtesy call on Vice-President Danny Faure yesterday at State House.
The discussion was based on financing the second phase of the Ile Perseverance project which Mr Khelifi, cooperation division chief of Badea, has described as important.
He said that the bank financed phase one of the project which is about to be completed, adding that they also discussed new projects in which the Badea has always been involved.
Mr Khelifi also thanked Vice-President Faure for giving him an overview of the Badea-Seychelles cooperation which is already in its eighth year.
The first phase of development of Ile Perseverance financed by the bank includes the housing units, primary school, basic infrastructure like electricity and roads. The second phase will include a crèche, a kindergarten, a secondary school – all projects which are currently under implementation.
Mr Khelifi said the project which will cost about US $18 million is still under discussion but added that it is not about the amount to be spent but about the people because when it comes to cooperation between Seychelles and the Badea, the amount of money is secondary.
He said that as soon as phase one finishes, the second one will start.
