Emirates steps up services to Seychelles
30.01.2010
Emirates, the Dubai-based airline, is to step up its services to Seychelles as from February 1, with an increase to six flights a week offering better connections from across its network.
The extra flights, resulting in an increased capacity of 50% a week in each direction, will operate on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The Dubai-Seychelles route will be served by an Airbus A330-200 with a three-class configuration: 12 seats in first class, 42 in business class and 177 in economy class.
Majid Al Mualla, Emirates’ vice-president of commercial operations, West Asia and Indian Ocean, said: “The increased frequency demonstrates our trust in the tourism industry of Seychelles. The islands constitute a fabulous tourism product and we will enhance our promotion efforts aiming to attract more tourists to this exquisite destination.
“We wish to thank the government of the Republic of Seychelles for their trust in Emirates. We consider ourselves as partners to the archipelago.”
From the start of its operations to Seychelles in January 2005, Emirates has promoted the destination throughout its network. Every year, Emirates Holidays’ brochure – A World of Choice – dedicates a prominent section to the country.
For Seychellois travellers, the extra flights will give more flexibility in travel to Dubai and the global network of the airline, which covers more than 100 cities around the world.
Extra flights will also increase the cargo capacity. A further 24 tonnes per direction will be available every week, bringing the total to 72 tonnes between Seychelles and Dubai.
EK 705 will take off from Terminal 3, Dubai International Airport, at 2.30am and touch down at Seychelles International Airport at 7am. EK 706 will leave Mahe at 8.15am and will arrive in Dubai at 12:45pm.
