Ethiopia eager to boost relations with Seychelles
Ethiopia’s newly accredited ambassador to Seychelles Shemsudin Ahmed Roble has said his country is looking forward to learn from Seychelles’ experience in different fields namely tourism.
Ambassador Roble said this when talking to the press yesterday morning after he had presented his credentials and held talks with President James Michel a State House.
“We want to strengthen our relationship with Seychelles in the political, diplomatic, economic and tourism areas,” he said.
He said he is looking forward to step up ways to exchange experience and for the two countries to work together and learn from each other.
“We want to learn a lot from Seychelles’ experience to strengthen our tourism sector and as an agricultural country there are areas where we can share our experience with Seychelles,” added Ambassador Roble.
Mr Roble said he feels really at home here as his people and the Seychellois people look a lot alike physically and have a lot in common, and that he is really honoured to be representing his country in Seychelles .
Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Mr Roble said he will be visiting Seychelles often to hold discussions in his effort to step up cooperation between his country and Seychelles.
Mr Roble noted that the relationship between Ethiopia and Seychelles is a long standing one which dates back several decades and that he is happy that as ambassador he will be able to enhance that relationship and take it to greater heights.
“I have discussed with President Michel issues of great importance to all of us. We belong to the same region, to the same continent and together globally. On all those different spheres we are committed to working together in areas of mutual interest,” said Mr Roble.
Mr Roble is the 3rd Ethiopian ambassador to be accredited here after Mengiste Desta who was accredited in 1982 and Legesse Wolde-Mariam who was accredited in 1986.
During his visit here Mr Roble will also pay a courtesy call on the Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Patrick Herminie today at Ile Du Port.
