Hydrocarbon exploration
Seychelles gets more applications
The Seychelles government and PetroSeychelles have received more applications for hydrocarbon exploration in the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Under the “Seychelles Licensing Initiative”, which was announced in June 2013, oil companies may submit applications for specific areas of the Seychelles EEZ for petroleum exploration.
The area must not exceed 10,000 sq.km per application.
The financial and technical capabilities of the company applying are assessed to determine if it qualifies.
If the company qualifies, other companies are invited to bid on the same area and they have 90 days to submit their own proposals.
All proposals will be opened at the end of the 90-day period and one company will be selected to negotiate a petroleum agreement with the government for the area.
Applications have been received for two areas shown in the accompanying illustration as “New Application Area”.
Interested oil companies are therefore invited to submit their own proposal for the areas.
The proposals must be in the format shown on the “Call for Submission Document” available on the PetroSeychelles website (www.petroseychelles.com), Downloads, and must reach PetroSeychelles' Office at the following address: 1st Floor, SEYPEC Building, New Port, P.O. Box 230, Victoria, Mahé, Seychelles; no later than November 17, 2014.
