Honourable Nishimura, who is undertaking a tour of the region, is the Deputy Chairman and Chief Secretary of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party Policy Research Council and is also a Member of the House of Representatives of Japan.

Their discussion centred on the opportunities for cooperation between Seychelles and Japan in the fields of fisheries, tourism, climate change and anti-piracy work.

Mr Nishimura met President Michel during the President’s visit to Japan in 2009. At the time, Mr Nishimura held the post of Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs.
