Korean diplomat hails Seychelles’ role in region - 22.03.2011
Outgoing Korean ambassador to Seychelles Lee Han-Gon congratulated Seychelles on its vital role in the fight against piracy and its stance on climate change in the region.
He was speaking yesterday after paying his farewell call on President James Michel at State House. He said the Republic of Korea appreciates the remarkable work of the Seychelles government to tackle the problem of piracy. “We are ready to share our expertise and capital with Seychelles, not only on piracy and climate change but also in other fields,” he added. “We have a very good relationship with the Seychelles government, especially since Mr Michel’s historic visit to my country in September 2009.” He said the signing of the bilateral air service agreement between the two countries in July last year was a milestone in the history of their relations. His country is also pleased to be taking part in the joint committee meeting between the two governments scheduled to take place this year. Mr Lee, who is based in Nairobi, Kenya, presented his credentials to Mr Michel in September 2009. He is expected to leave his office in May this year and said he had to come early to pay his farewell call as Mr Michel will be busy with the presidential election during that period. |
