Local aviation set to comply with European norms

Aviation staff are now set to comply with European standards and improve their service after completing a course in quality management and auditing.
The pilots, engineering and operations staff from the Islands Development Company (IDC) and Helicopter Seychelles received their certificates last week from German instructor Andreas Grauer after the course, which was held from October 5-9.
The ceremony took place at the IDC’s conference room, New Port, in the presence of its chief executive Glenny Savy, who was one of those taking the course.
He said the training was necessary as aviation companies here have decided to adopt European norms in the local service.
More such courses will be held to help staff to comply with the new regulations and improve their performance, he added.
Mr Grauer said he was impressed by the performance of the trainees, adding that such a course is vital when there are changes in regulations. He described the level of staff here as being up to international standards.
He said key personnel need to be trained to keep abreast of these changes and also to help improve the quality of service.
IDC chief pilot Marcus Labonte, the best performer during the course, said he had learnt a lot about new regulations. Such training will help them improve their service and safety procedures, he added.
The training was organised jointly by the IDC and Helicopter Seychelles.
