Long-serving nurses honoured
The health ministry has rewarded a group of 19 long-serving nurses who have over 30 years of service, while three others received their certificates after completing further studies.
This was during a ceremony – attended by President James Michel – that took place in the auditorium of the University of Seychelles’ School of Education at Mont Fleuri yesterday.
The event – organised by the Nurses Association of the Republic of Seychelles (Nars) – also marked International Nurses Day on May 12, which was celebrated this year under the theme Delivering quality, serving the communities: nurses leading chronic care.
Also present were Minister for Employment and Human Resources Development Macsuzy Mondon, secretary of state Jean-Paul Adam, leader of government business in the National Assembly Marie-Louise Potter and of the opposition Wavel Ramkalawan, chief executive of the Health Services Agency Daniella Larue, public health commissioner Dr Jude Gedeon, health and government officials.
Among the long-serving nurses, Thérèse Cafrine, who spent 45 years in the profession, received her award from President Michel.
Seychelles Nation will have a full story on the event in its next edition.
