More tourist flights expected from China - 11.04.2012
More flights with tourists from China are expected, Seychelles ambassador to that country Philippe Le Gall has announced, following talks to review success of the first chartered flight.
Over 150 visitors from that country came here in January aboard a chartered Ethiopian Airline jet.
Mr Legal was invited to the China Travel Service (CTS) headquarters in Beijing recently to discuss the outcome of that first charter, which was organised by the airline, the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) and 7 Degrees South.
Zhang Shigang, president of the CTS, expressed his satisfaction following the flight and pioneering initiative. He confirmed that CTS is willing to commit more resources to Seychelles as a regular and very promising tourism destination on China’s outbound market.
Mr Le Gall – who was accompanied by tourism attaché Jean-Luc Lai Lam and STB’s executive Li Huan Huan – briefed the CTS management on the latest developments in Seychelles, especially the appointment of Alain Saint Ange as Minister for Tourism and Culture, and Air Seychelles’ intention to operate a direct flight to China in 2013, a prospect warmly welcomed by Mr Zhang Shigang.
The two sides agreed to hold regular high level meetings to capitalise on the very strong existing momentum in China-Seychelles relations to build a long-lasting cooperation beneficial to Seychelles tourism trade and the CTS.
The headquarters of China Travel Service is the number one Chinese travel agency established in 1928 and employs 40,000 people.
