New Polish ambassador presents credentials
Marek Ziolkowski is Poland’s second ambassador to Seychelles after presenting his documents of accreditation to President James Michel at State House yesterday morning.
Talking to the media after meeting the Seychellois head of State, Mr Ziolkowski expressed his gratitude to his government for allowing him the opportunity to represent his country here.
He said during this first meeting with Mr Michel they discussed various issues relating to foreign policies and explored different areas for possible cooperation.
“There are various possibilities, for instance, in the area of economic and political support. The Polish ministry for economy has declared 2013 ‘the year for Africa’ and it is a time where the government will be intensifying doing business and strengthening its cooperation and relations with African countries,” Mr Ziolkowski said.
“I believe Seychelles will feature among those countries,” he added.
Apart from Seychelles, Mr Ziolkowski is also his country’s ambassador to 10 other countries and he is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Mr Ziolkowski replaces Anna Grupinska, the first Polish ambassador to Seychelles who was accredited in February 2011.
During his first visit here, Mr Ziolkowski will meet different ministers and will today call on the Speaker of the National Assembly Dr Patrick Herminie at Ile Du Port.
