Vivianne Fock-Tave is the new Seychelles ambassador accredited to the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

She presented her credentials to President Xi Jinping in Beijing during a ceremony held at the Great Hall of the People.

Ms Fock-Tave becomes Seychelles’ second ambassador with residence in Beijing, since the opening of the Seychelles mission in May 2007 in the PRC.

Ambassador Fock-Tave conveyed the warm wishes of President James Michel and the people of Seychelles and expressed appreciation for all the help and support from the PRC towards the socio-economic development of Seychelles, noting the contribution towards key infrastructural projects such as housing, the Palais de Justice, the National Assembly building, schools and hospitals.

President Xi expressed his admiration for the beauty of Seychelles and described Seychelles as being the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean”.

President Xi noted that China sees Seychelles as an equal partner and that it is an honour for the Chinese people to assist in the socio-economic development of Seychelles.

The president said he is pleased with the role that Seychelles is playing on the international stage as a strong advocate of global challenges to sustainable development.
