No visa needed to visit Turkey - 15.09.2011
Seychellois visiting Turkey will not need a visa for the first 90 days, after Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Paul Adam and Turkish ambassador Tuncer Kayalar signed a waiver agreement yesterday.
The signing of the agreement will also highlight the fact that visitors from Turkey – or any other country – do not need to get a visa prior to their arrival here, where it is given free of charge, said Mr Adam. Ambassador Kayalar said this will help boost tourism between the two countries in favour of Seychelles, helping correct current trade imbalance which at the moment features more imports from the European nation than from Seychelles, which hopes to sell tuna to Turkey in the future. Mr Kayalar noted that trade has grown from US $2 million to US $9 million recently, and is set to grow. There has been a noticeable rise in the volume and variety of items from Turkey in the local market, said Mr Adam, who also recalled some of our recently acquired modern tugs are from Turkey. He said there are a number of Seychellois studying in Turkey, adding the two countries enjoy an excellent relationship. |
