President appoints law commissioner

President James Michel has appointed the former acting chief justice, Judge Ranjan Perera, as the law review commissioner with effect from September 9.
The commissioner prepares the revised edition of the laws of Seychelles and in so doing can recommend statutory law reform to the extent called for by the law revision exercise.
It is expected that this appointment will quicken the pace of the exercise. The last published version of the laws of Seychelles goes back to 1995.
