President Michel arrives in Hanoi
President James Michel arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam late yesterday afternoon on his first state visit to this Asian country.
Mr Michel is in Hanoi at the invitation of the Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang.
He was warmly welcomed at the Noi Bai International airport in Hanoi by the Leader of the Vietnamese Presidential office, Trung Dao Viet, before being presented with a bouquet of flowers by a young lady.
President Michel was also accorded a gun salute and inspected a Guard of honour.
Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Paul Adam, Labour and Human Resource Development Minister Idith Alexander are part of the presidential delegation who also comprises senior government officials, representatives of the Seychelles Investment Bureau, Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority and the private sector.
President Michel and his delegation are using this visit to further strengthen relations between Seychelles and Vietnam.
Discussions taking place today and tomorrow are expected to focus on fisheries, agriculture, tourism, financial services, air services as well as opportunities to enhance trade and investment between the two countries.
