President on working visit to Ras Al Khaimah
28.09.2009
President James Michel left yesterday for a one-day working visit to the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah - one of the seven states which make up the United Arab Emirates.
During the visit, President Michel will be meeting with His Highness Sheik Bin Saqr Al Qassimi to discuss means of strengthening the relationship between Seychelles and Ras Al Khaimah, under the aegis of the excellent relations which already exist with the UAE as a whole.
It is to be noted that Rakgas energy, which is owned by the state of Ras Al Khaimah, is the main shareholder of Black Marlin Energy, the company in which the Seychelles Petroleum Company (Sepec) has also taken a stake, with a view to further strengthen the steps towards finding oil in Seychelles waters.
The visit will afford the opportunity for wide ranging discussions on investment in the energy sector and other possibilities for cooperation with Seychelles.
The President is accompanied on the visit by Secretary of State Jean-Paul Adam and chairman and chief executive of Sepec Captain Guy Adam.
