President to attend Copenhagen Climate Change Summit
10.12.2009
The Office of the President has announced that President James Michel will be taking a few days’ leave after which he will attend the Copenhagen summit on climate change.
The President is expected to address the summit on Wednesday December 16.
At the summit, the President will once again take up the cause of small island states and continue to call for a sustainable and legally binding deal on emissions.
The President has consistently placed climate change at the forefront of Seychelles’ foreign policy since his first address on the issue at the 2005 SIDS (Small Islands Developing States) Summit convened in Mauritius.
