Public get chance to vote for Miss Regatta - 17.07.2010
From this coming weekend, the public will have a chance to vote for their favourite girl competing for this year’s Miss Regatta crown.
This can be done by sending a simple text on a mobile phone along with the contestant’s number. A five-minute advert will be aired on SBC TV every night for the whole of next week so people can become acquainted with the eight contestants and their numbers. This will be the second time the public have been able to choose their favourite contestant before the actual pageant. The people’s choice will automatically qualify for the final.
The 2010 Regatta beauty pageant will be held at the International Conference Centre on Saturday July 24 under the theme Protection of the Environment, whose main aim is to encourage the girls to choose outfits made of recyclable materials. The show will last a little more than one hour, and the girls will all parade in their evening wear, swimwear and casual outfit. Many young artists will perform during the show, which will include some new talents as well as others reappearing on the music scene after a long absence. Miss Regatta 2010 will win a return ticket to Kenya, R5,000 in cash, a full diving course and a weekend for two at the Domaine de l’Orangeraie among other prizes.
There will also be prizes for the First and Second Mermaid, Miss Personality and Miss Photogenic. The Mr Regatta contest will be held on July 23 at the Tequila Boom nightclub and will be followed one week later by the Regatta fair, which will take place on Saturday July 31 and August 1. The Regatta is an annual event organised by the Round Table with the help of various sponsors. |
