 16.05.2009

Russian businessmen have invested more than US $200 million in Seychelles’ tourism, Ambassador Mikhail Kalinin said yesterday after presenting his credentials to President James Michel at State House.

Mr Kalinin, who became Russia’s eighth ambassador, said he is looking forward to stronger economic ties between the two countries.

Russian experts will soon arrive to explore further development of economic relations, he said.

Tourism between Russia and Seychelles has taken an upward trend since the recent start of weekly flights from Moscow, he added.

“I’m glad and honoured to have been appointed Russian ambassador to Seychelles and I will leave no stone unturned to improve those relations,” he said.
