Sacos’ CEO Laporte to take up new World Bank post
Pierre Laporte, the newly appointed chief executive of the Sacos Group Limited and former Minister for Finance, will soon be leaving Sacos to take a senior position with an international organisation, the company announced yesterday.
“Mr Laporte is leaving Sacos to take up a senior position with an international
organisation and his departure will take effect on November 1, 2015. An interim
chief executive will be appointed until the Sacos Group appoints a permanent one,” a press release from Sacos said.
It added that the Sacos Group would like to thank Mr Laporte for his contribution during his short tenure with the Group and wishes him the very best in his future career.
It added that for his part Mr Laporte has expressed his gratitude to the Sacos board and management for the opportunity to have led the company albeit for a few months only, and wishes Sacos continued success.
Speaking to Seychelles NATION later yesterday Mr Laporte confirmed that he will be taking a senior position at the World Bank.
He added that it was not an easy decision to make to leave Sacos after such a short time especially after he has been welcomed by the company and has developed a good working relationship and has started to settle very well in his new position.
“It was a difficult decision for me to make and it is with mixed feelings that I will be leaving, but sometimes in life when a great opportunity presents itself one has to take it and not let it pass,” Mr Laporte said.
He said Sacos is a great company to work for and he will miss the short time spent there.
