Seychelles’ ambassador to the European Council accredited
Seychelles’ ambassador to the European Union, Vivianne Fock Tave, has been accredited as our country’s ambassador to the European Council.
Ms Fock Tave presented her credentials to the President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, on April 20, 2010.
During the accreditation visit, Ms Fock Tave and Mr Van Rompuy discussed the Seychelles on-going macro-economic reform programme and exchanged views on piracy activities, an emerging threat in the Western Indian Ocean which is affecting the vulnerable economy of Seychelles.
The Treaty of Lisbon, which entered into force on December 1, 2009, amends the Treaty on European Union and the Treaty establishing the European Community. Prominent changes were made, including increased involvement of the European Parliament in the legislative process, the creation of a long-term President of the European Council and a High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
Hence, in presenting her credentials to the President of the European Council, Ms Fock Tave is now fully accredited as the Seychelles Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the European Union.
