Seychelles among nations with lowest economic distress
12.05.2009
Seychelles has been ranked 22nd among 165 nations – ahead of several European countries and the US – judged on their economic distress indicators.
In a special report by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), the world’s leading compiler of economic data, Norway comes top with the lowest such indicators.
To draw up the report, the EIU used unemployment, levels of growth (or lack of growth) in incomes, and income per head as key economic distress indicators.
In the list where the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Chad and Zimbabwe appear at the other extreme, Denmark is second, followed by Canada, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland, Mauritius, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Luxembourg, Austria, Australia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Japan, Germany, Oman, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Belgium, United Arab Emirates, Seychelles, Qatar and Cyprus.
