Seychelles congratulates SADC’s new executive secretary
The Seychelles delegation at the SADC (Southern African Development Community) summit has expressed its heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed executive secretary of the organisation, Dr Stergomena Tax from the United Republic of Tanzania.
Dr Tax's appointment has been endorsed by the summit which culminates the organisation's recruitment process.
“As a nation that places great importance on having equitable gender participation in the economy and in decision-making processes, we are delighted that Dr Tax becomes the first woman to occupy the post of executive secretary. We are confident that under her leadership, SADC will continue to advance the development of our region in a dynamic and sustainable manner,” Vice-President Danny Faure, the head of the Seychelles delegation, remarked following her appointment.
Vice-President Faure also expressed Seychelles' warmest congratulations and appreciation to the outgoing executive secretary, Dr Tomas Salomao, for his exceptional contribution to SADC and the ideals it represents.
