Seychelles’ Festival of the Sea to get world exposure - 09.05.2011

Seychelles’ Festival of the Sea, Subios, is set to get more visibility on the world stage now that the Asian Geographic Magazine and its group of publications are to become the event’s official partner publication.

This follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the magazine’s publisher John Thet and chief executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) Alain St Ange.

The signing ceremony took place in Singapore on the centerstage at the ADEX 2011 Dive Show which this year again focused on the enjoyment of the underwater riches but with conservation of these riches as well.

Mr Thet said he was happy to be associated with Seychelles for their Festival of the Sea and assured Mr St. Ange that his group of publications would be serious and dedicated partners for Seychelles.

Mr St. Ange thanked Mr Thet and the Asian Geographic group for accepting to become the official publication for Subios, the Seychelles Festival of the Sea.

"We wanted to bring our Festival of the Sea to the attention of the world, and to those who enjoy and appreciate the unlimited beauty of the underwater world. We needed a serious partner to do that, and when Myrna Michel, the Seychelles regional tourism director for Asia and Australasia confirmed that the Asian Geographic group of publications had agreed to become our partners and our festival's official publication, we were just thrilled," Mr St. Ange said.

This memorandum of understanding provides for ongoing dissemination of information by the Asian Geographic group about Subios, the Seychelles Festival of the Sea, and the involvement of the Asian Geographic group at the event.

Representatives of the Asian Geographic group of publications visited Seychelles during the island's Carnaval International de Victoria in March and covered this unique event staged by Seychelles for the world at large.

The Asian Geographic representatives also took time when in Seychelles to see for themselves the underwater world of the mid ocean islands of the Seychelles.

"This partnership with such a respected Asia and Australasia-based publication group comes for us at the perfect time. The Seychelles have only very recently been recognised by Asia and Australasia as their 'it' destination for vacations, and the support we will now receive from this recognised publication will bring more visibility for the Seychelles Islands," Mr St. Ange said.

The Seychelles Islands also won the Prestigious Award for the 'Best Tourism Experience Destination' during the Singapore's 2011 ADEX Dive Show.
