Seychelles is heaven on earth, says UK magazine

The Journeys magazine from the UK has described Seychelles as ‘heaven on earth’ and says that beyond the stunning beaches and sybaritic lifestyle, a rich diversity awaits visitors to the islands.

The Autumn issue of the magazine has come out with an 8-page feature on the destination, entitled ‘Heaven on Earth’, and also includes advert pages of Desroches Island and the new Enchanted Island Resort on Round Island.

Writer Karl Cushing writes about his trip to the Seychelles and says that “with its lavish exotic hideaways and dreamy beaches, the Seychelles has long been a favourite among discerning travellers and escapists”.

He continues that one should scratch beneath the surface however, to discover a whole different side to the islands – which is the Vallée-de-mai.
“To visit the reserve, famed for its coco de mer palms with their suggestively-shaped seeds, was to enter another world. No wonder it was once believed to be the original Garden of Eden,” claims Karl.

He also speaks of how Seychelles, besides being home to some of the world’s best beaches, the 115 islands also support a staggering array of wildlife, much of it endemic.
From jellyfish trees to vanilla orchids, Karl says the islands’ natural diversity is evident as soon as one lands on the main island of Mahé. Visitors can then opt to explore the islands further by going on nature trails.

He suggests that it is easy to visit different islands due to popular island-hopping combination and he describes the Anse Source D’Argent beach on La Digue as one of the world’s most iconic, “where powdery white sand is edged by giant, smooth granite boulders and gently waving palms”.

Karl also strongly points out that conservation is taken seriously in the paradise island of Seychelles. Cousin, Frégate and North islands all display strong eco-credentials, he says.

But his best experience, he reveals, was on Denis Island, “where birdlife and giant tortoise protection programmes blend seamlessly with its glorious barefoot-style luxury”.
He also mentions other islands that must be visited – such as Bird, Curieuse and Aride – as the destination is truly a paradise for thrill-seekers.

Journeys, which reports on unique travel experiences around the world, has a readership of 150,000 in the UK.
