Seychelles’ second ambassador to Venezuela accredited
Marie-Louise Potter is the second ambassador of Seychelles to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
She presented her credentials to the country’s executive vice- president, Jorge Alberto Arreaza, in a ceremony held in Caracas last month.
Ambassador Potter expressed her desire that her accreditation following that of her Venezuelan counterpart in Seychelles two weeks before would bring added impetus to the development of the bilateral relations between Victoria and Caracas and bring more success to our already excellent friendly relations.
She reiterated the interest of Seychelles to see the Framework Agreement on Cooperation between the two countries come into force.
Cooperation under this agreement covers areas ranging from energy, petroleum and agriculture to trade, education, health, sports and culture.
Ambassador Potter welcomed the forthcoming official visit of the Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs for Africa, Reinaldo Bolivar, to Seychelles in August.
She reiterated Seychelles’ endorsement of Venezuela’s candidature for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council for the term 2015-2016, in return for Venezuela’s reciprocal support of Seychelles’ own bid for biennium 2016-2017.
Ambassador Potter briefed the Venezuelan vice-president on Seychelles’ goals exposing the concept of the ‘Blue Economy’ in pushing it to the forefront of the global agenda.
Ambassador Potter also sought Venezuela’s support for small island developing states.
