Seychelles stands tall in global arena
Seychelles is shining as a member of the world community in China at the ongoing World Expo 2010 where President James Michel opened our pavilion last weekend as seen in our centre-page pictures.
We are showing the world what we can offer in our strong areas like tourism and conservation and urging other members of the global community to live in harmony with nature.
However, our role in the event has not just started because we were among the countries which determined where the expo would be held when we supported China’s candidature as the host.
That role alone shows what an important member of the global community we are, underlining the need to take everything we do seriously since the rest of the world clearly counts on us to play our part.
Another example of a key global responsibility we are shouldering is our lead role in the fight against piracy, which President Michel and Chinese President Hu Jintao talked about.
Without doubt, in the same way as we count on our world partners, so does the global community depend on us to do what we need to.
The President, the government or a few local agencies cannot do it alone and need our support, highlighting the need for all of us to do the best in whatever aspect we are entrusted with, so that we continue to stand tall in the global arena, by working Together, Ready for the Future.
