Seychelles tops African mobile phone league

Seychelles has Africa’s highest percentage of mobile phone users – 89.23 per 100 inhabitants, says the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) on its website www.itu.int.
We are followed by Gabon with 87.86%, South Africa 87.08, Tunisia 75.94 and Botswana 75.84.
Mauritius has 74.19 users in every 100 population, Libya 73.05, Morocco 64.15, Algeria 63.34, Gambia 46.58, Equatorial Guinea 43.35, Mauritania 41.62, Egypt 39.80, Namibia 38.58, Ivory Coast 36.6, Congo 35.40, Senegal 33.31, Swaziland 33.29, Ghana 32.39, Kenya 30.48, Cape Verde 27.9, Nigeria 27.28 and Cameroon 24.45.
The average for the continent is 27.48 per 100.
Seychelles is also ranked at the top for internet use, with more than 35 users in every 100 people. Nine other countries have more than 10 internet users per 100, while the average for the continent is 5.34 per 100.
