Seychellois judge appointed to Supreme Court
23.01.2010
President James Michel has appointed Cedric Gustave Dodin as a Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court, on the recommendation of the Constitutional Appointments Authority, with effect from February 15.
Mr Dodin will become the sixth judge of the Supreme Court and the third Seychellois judge.
This appointment will allow the judiciary to improve its efforts to offer a faster and more efficient service to the Seychellois public, the President’s Office said yesterday.
Mr Dodin, who is 44 years old, is now the ombudsman and chairman of the National Human Rights Commission.
He is also a member of the Public Officers’ Ethics Commission.
Between 1996 and 2003, Mr Dodin was the registrar-general. Before that, he served as a state counsel in the Office of the Attorney-General, as well as being chairman of the Family Tribunal and the Employment Advisory Board.
He was called to the Bar in 1998.
