Spectacular evening marks UK tourist office return - 17.07.2010
Seychelles’ high commissioner Patrick Pillay and National Assembly members Jeovana Charles and Bernard Georges – who were in London on parliamentary duties – joined the Seychelles Tourism Board’s (STB) chief executive Alain St Ange and his all-Seychellois team to celebrate the special occasion.
Mr Pillay addressed the guests at Chandos House, explaining the partnership between his office and the new tourism office.
“We are united in our mission for the benefit of Seychelles,” he said.
Mr St Ange told the British travel agents and media that Seychelles is back in the UK and back to stay. He assured the travel trade of the STB’s determination to claim its fair share of the British market.
He also spoke about the new drive to make Seychelles more visible and stressed that Seychelles is a serious tourism destination.
“So serious are we about the importance of this industry that our President has personally taken over the tourism portfolio, and his secretary of state is himself the chairman of the country's tourism board,” said Mr St Ange.
Five UK-based Seychelles tourism ambassadors had travelled to London to be part of this special evening – when UK manager Fiona Lane and her two assistants, Stephanie Medor and Lorraine Louis, were introduced to the travel trade and media.
