UAE gives US $30 million to Seychelles

The government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has allocated the sum of US $30 million as a gift to the people of Seychelles.
The money, to de disbursed over 10 years in instalments of US $3 million a year, will contribute towards the building of homes and in infrastructural projects in the country with the aim of helping to bring prosperity and progress to its people.
The President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, announced this when he received President James Michel at his official residence in Seychelles on Friday afternoon.
During the meeting it also came out that the UAE will further build an integrated modern diagnostic centre at Victoria Hospital and provide it with the most advanced and up-to-date medical facilities and equipment to ensure a better medical service to the people of the Seychelles.
The UAE will also send a delegation from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Economic Development to discuss the economic viability study of a proposed dam.
At Friday’s meeting, the two leaders also discussed ways for developing the close ties of friendship between the two countries.
Both presidents expressed their satisfaction with the high level of co-operation that has developed between them over the last few decades and affirmed their wish to work together to boost their bilateral ties in all fields that serve the mutual interests of their peoples.
President Michel expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Government and people of Seychelles for the aid offered his country by the UAE and affirmed his deep appreciation for the warm feelings of friendship and regard that the President of the UAE holds personally towards the Seychellois people.
