The University of Seychelles is likely to attract students from all over the region, a leading British academic said yesterday.
“You are very well placed within the region and you are likely to attract students from Africa, the Caribbean, Asia and even Europe,” said Jon Gregson, director of external networks for the University of London’s External System.
“I am sure they would love to come here and study,” added Mr Gregson after calling on President James Michel at State House.
He said his university has a model that can be used by students outside London and would be of use to Seychellois students.
He hailed the idea of launching a university here, saying it will help to train the working population “and many research projects can be done locally”.
